Two of the big differences between wine and sake are a) acidity (sake generally has far less) and b) umami, the super savoury “fifth taste” associated with Japanese food.

A lesser known aspect of sake’s flavour profile is gentler lactic acid, which is added or produced during the brewing process. What else has both lactic acidity and umami and therefore would go beautifully with sake? Here’s a clue, it’s something Switzerland is famous for – cheese!

Notes
* Participants (including guests) must be at least 18 years old.
* Eat before the event. There will be cheese and snacks, but from experience it’s best not to taste alcohol on an empty stomach.
* The minimum number of participants is four. If there are less than four people, the session will be postponed.
* The CHF 50.00 fee can be paid in advance online by card or with TWINT. Please use the red buttons at the top and bottom of the page.
* Reservation and advance payment is essential as I need to prepare enough sake and other supplies for everyone.
* Cancellations can only be accepted up to 24 hours before the session as this allows your place to be released for someone else. Otherwise you will be liable for the fee as I will not be able to fill the place.
* If you can’t make it at short notice, you can give your place to a friend – just contact me!
* Refunds are not given for no-shows.
